Package forwarding to Colombia
No duty up to US$200 FOB, and in 2026 VAT is excluded up to US$50 (Decreto 1474 of 19 December 2025, valid only for 2026). The DIAN also states these shipments pay no VAT when the goods come from a trade-agreement country, such as the EU or the USA, and have no commercial purpose.

What most guides get wrong about importing into Colombia
The US$200 VAT figure you remember was replaced
Decreto Legislativo 1474 of 19 December 2025 set the VAT exclusion at US$50, and the DIAN has confirmed it runs only from 1 January to 31 December 2026. US$200 still matters, but for duty.
Almost nobody mentions the trade-agreement relief
The DIAN's own page states that shipments in this modality do not pay VAT when they come from countries with a free-trade agreement and have no commercial purpose. Colombia's agreements with the EU and the USA have been in force since 2013 and 2012.
The shops you want have no Colombian checkout
Zalando sells only in Europe, PcComponentes only across the EU, MediaMarkt Spain only in mainland Spain and the Balearics. There is no Colombian delivery option to select.

What the DIAN actually charges on a parcel to Colombia (2026)
Two numbers decide what a parcel pays, and most guides mix them up. The DIAN's own page for tráfico postal y envíos urgentes puts the tributos aduaneros at a 10% customs duty on the FOB value — freight and insurance included — plus 19% VAT. Everything after that is exemptions on top.
On duty, the DIAN states that a shipment whose FOB value is US$200 or less does not pay the 10%. On VAT there are two separate reliefs. The first is the one almost nobody mentions: the DIAN states these shipments do not pay VAT when they come from countries with a free-trade agreement with Colombia and have no commercial purpose.
Colombia's agreement with the European Union has been in force since 2013 and its agreement with the United States since 2012; it has none with China or Türkiye. What counts is where the goods originate, not where you bought them.
The second relief is temporary: Decreto Legislativo 1474 of 19 December 2025 excludes VAT on shipments worth no more than US$50, and the DIAN has confirmed it runs only during the 2026 calendar year — that is what replaced the US$200 VAT figure people still repeat.
What none of this settles is your particular parcel. Whether a shipment counts as non-commercial, and whether its origin is evidenced to the satisfaction of the officer clearing it, is decided at clearance and not before.
| Item | What the DIAN states (2026) |
|---|---|
| Customs duty, general rule | 10% of the FOB value, freight and insurance included |
| VAT, general rule | 19% |
| FOB of US$200 or less | Does not pay customs duty |
| Goods originating in an FTA country, non-commercial | Do not pay VAT — the EU and the USA have agreements; China and Türkiye do not |
| Up to US$50 during 2026 | VAT excluded — Decreto Legislativo 1474/2025, art. 3 |
| The old US$200 VAT figure | Replaced by the US$50 exclusion, and only for 2026 |
Last updated: September 2026. Informational only — not customs or tax advice. The US$50 VAT exclusion is written for the 2026 calendar year, and the relief for shipments from FTA countries depends on the shipment having no commercial purpose and on origin being evidenced at clearance. “Been sourcing European car parts for years. Resendify is the best forwarding service I've used for Europe-to-India shipments. The consolidation feature saved me hundreds on a single order.”
“Bought from a French boutique that doesn't ship to Australia. Got my Resendify address in minutes, placed the order, and it was on my doorstep in Sydney two weeks later. Exactly as advertised.”
“I source from 4–5 European suppliers every month. Resendify consolidates everything before it hits the US, which cuts my per-unit shipping cost significantly. The quote tool is accurate and the team is responsive.”
“Found a Zalando deal that was EU-only. Used Resendify, got the item shipped to Dubai without any issues. The customs documentation was all handled — that's the part I usually dread.”
Forwarding packages to Colombia
US$200 is still the duty threshold: the DIAN states that a shipment with an FOB value of US$200 or less does not pay the 10% customs duty. What moved is the VAT side — Decreto Legislativo 1474 of December 2025 set the VAT exclusion at US$50, only for the 2026 calendar year.
The DIAN states that shipments in this modality do not pay VAT when the goods come from a country with a free-trade agreement and the shipment has no commercial purpose, and the EU–Colombia agreement has been in force since 2013. Whether your particular shipment qualifies is decided at clearance, so treat it as the framework rather than a guarantee.
Consolidating is almost always cheaper on freight, but it raises the FOB value of a single shipment — which is exactly what the US$200 duty threshold looks at. Ask us before you buy and we will price both options.
No. The relief is written for shipments with no commercial purpose. Importing to resell is a formal import with its own requirements — talk to us and to a customs agent before ordering.
