What makes importing into Peru trickier than the headline number
The catch nobody mentions: same flight, same recipient
If several shipments arrive on the same flight for the same recipient and together exceed US$200, the exemption is lost and the taxes apply. That is exactly the situation a careless forwarding plan creates, and it is worth designing around rather than discovering.
Above US$200 the arithmetic changes
Between US$200 and US$2,000 a courier shipment pays 4% customs duty plus 18% IGV, calculated on the CIF value. The step is not enormous, but it is a step, and it decides how you should group orders.
The shops you want have no Peruvian checkout

Peru's fast-delivery courier regime, and its one trap (2026)
Peru's *envíos de entrega rápida* regime is one of the friendlier ones in the region at the low end. A courier shipment with an FOB value up to US$200 enters completely free — no customs duty and no IGV. Between US$200 and US$2,000 the shipment pays 4% customs duty plus 18% IGV, calculated on the CIF value.
The part that matters most to anyone using a forwarding address is the condition attached to that exemption, and it is the one almost no guide mentions: **if several shipments arrive on the same flight for the same recipient and together exceed US$200, the exemption is lost** and the taxes apply.
That is not a hypothetical for a forwarding customer — it is exactly what happens when two parcels leave the same warehouse on the same day. It is also entirely avoidable once you know, which is why we would rather you read it here.
One more point in your favour if you buy from Europe: under the EU–Peru trade agreement, goods of genuine European origin accompanied by a valid origin declaration can have the customs duty reduced above the threshold. The IGV remains due either way, and whether a particular shipment qualifies is decided at clearance on the documents that travel with it.
Practical limits: a courier package cannot exceed 50 kg. Above that it moves as consolidated freight, which brings its own requirements — a different conversation, and one worth having before you buy rather than after.
