Here is the honest version most forwarders won't tell you. The old US$800 "de minimis" exemption that let small parcels enter the United States duty-free was suspended on 29 August 2025, and the suspension applies to EU shipments too. That exemption no longer exists: US import duty can now apply to your order from the very first dollar, with no value threshold below which clothing arrives free. The upside for your budget is that the US has no federal VAT or GST, so at the border you face customs duty only — not a value-added tax. Any state sales or use tax is your own obligation and is never collected by the courier. One more number to plan around: your your EU store prices already include Spain's 21% VAT, and shipping through a forwarder to an EU address does not let a private shopper reclaim that VAT (a tourist refund needs a personal export with a customs stamp, which a forwarder can't do). So budget against the .es sticker price, not a tax-free one.

The one figure we deliberately won't pin down is the exact duty rate, because in 2026 it is genuinely in flux. An IEEPA-based tariff framework was struck down in February 2026, and a temporary Section 122 surcharge now sits on top of the normal HTS apparel rates — so any single "X% on clothes" number you read online is probably already stale. Be clear-eyed about tax. Acne's euro prices on acnestudios.com/eu already include local VAT, and Sweden carries the EU's highest standard rate at 25%. When you ship to a forwarder address inside the EU, EU VAT is charged and a private consumer generally cannot reclaim it — a tourist refund requires you to personally export the goods and get a customs stamp, which a forwarder cannot do on your behalf. We will never promise a VAT refund through forwarding.

The real value is the brand price angle and access. Acne's euro prices are set for its home European market and tend to undercut US retail on identical items — independent comparisons put Europe at roughly 20% cheaper overall, and the Multipocket bag is one documented example at about €1,400 in the EU versus $1,650 on the US site.
