The problem

Why Brazilians cannot order from Otto directly

🚫

Otto delivers inside Germany

Orders from otto.de go to German addresses, and since 2026 to a short list of EU countries. There is no delivery option to Latin America at checkout.

💶

German pricing on a German catalogue

Otto's prices are in euros and its assortment is built for the German market, including labels and ranges that local retail never carries.

⚖️

Half the catalogue should not fly

A department store sells sofas as readily as shirts. Knowing which half of it is worth forwarding is what keeps this from becoming an expensive lesson.

Stop reading "we don't ship to your country".

A real local address at checkout is all that stands between you and that cart.

What Otto is good for, and what you should not put on a plane

Otto is one of the biggest online retailers in Germany and one of the oldest: a department store in the full sense, selling fashion, shoes, home textiles, furniture, appliances, electronics and toys under one roof. Its delivery map is domestic — orders go to German addresses, and since 2026 to a short list of EU countries. Latin America is not on it, which is what a German receiving address solves.

Because Otto sells everything, the useful question is not whether you can order but what is worth flying. Fashion, shoes, home textiles, bed linen, toys and small household goods are light for their value and travel well.

Furniture and large appliances are the opposite: heavy, bulky, and — in the case of anything electrical — built for German mains at 230 V and 50 Hz, which is a problem in most of Latin America. We would rather tell you that here than after you have paid for the freight.

One more practical point. Otto's catalogue mixes its own stock with marketplace sellers, and delivery arrangements differ between the two. Whichever it is, the parcel arrives at your German address the same way, and it waits at our warehouse while you finish the rest of your shopping.

For Brazil, one reminder from the tax table below: the 60% is charged on product plus freight plus insurance, so heavy items are taxed twice over — once on their price and again on the freight they generate. That is the arithmetic reason a department-store basket should lean towards textiles and away from furniture.

  • Fashion, shoes and home textiles — light for their value, and the easiest thing to consolidate
  • Bed linen, towels and kitchen textiles — flat, unbreakable, and priced in euros
  • Toys and small household goods — good filler for a box that is going anyway
  • ⚠️ Furniture and large appliances: heavy, bulky, and rarely worth air freight
  • ⚠️ Anything electrical is built for 230 V / 50 Hz — check the rating plate first

What a forwarded parcel really pays in Brazil (2026)

Brazil is the destination where getting the regime right matters more than anything else, and it is where most forwarding sites quietly mislead people. A parcel that reaches you through a forwarder travels as a *remessa*: a flat 60% federal import tax (Imposto de Importação) on the customs value, from the first dollar, plus state ICMS of 17–20% calculated inclusive. The customs value is not just the product — it is product plus freight plus insurance.

The headlines you have read about US$50 arriving tax-free are real, but they are not about you. Since 13 May 2026 the II on purchases up to US$50 is 0%, and that band belongs to Remessa Conforme: it applies only to platforms certified with the Receita Federal that collect the tax at checkout. A forwarder is not a certified platform and cannot put your parcel in that band. Anyone who tells you otherwise is describing a Shein order, not a forwarded one.

So we say the number out loud before you buy: plan for 60% plus ICMS. What forwarding actually saves you in Brazil is the shop's own price before Brazilian retail margin, access to what simply is not sold here, and freight — because consolidating six orders into one shipment is where the real money is.

Run a quote first and compare the landed total against the Brazilian ticket; sometimes it wins by a lot, and sometimes it does not, and you deserve to know which before you spend.

Finally a service that actually works for buying from Spanish stores. I ordered from Zara España, MANGO and El Corte Inglés in the same week — everything arrived consolidated in one box. Shipping to LA was way cheaper than I expected.

Found a Zalando deal that was EU-only. Used Resendify, got the item shipped to Dubai without any issues. The customs documentation was all handled — that's the part I usually dread.

FAQ

Buying from Otto and shipping to Brazil

No. Otto delivers to German addresses and, since 2026, to a short list of EU countries, so it does not deliver to Brazil. You can still buy there with a receiving address in the store's own country: we take delivery, hold your parcels while you finish shopping, and forward them to you.

No. otto.de delivers to German addresses and, since 2026, to a short list of EU countries. Latin America is not among them, so a German receiving address is what gives you access.

You can, but for most furniture we would advise against air freight: it is heavy and bulky relative to its price, which is the profile that makes international shipping expensive. If you are furnishing a home, ask us about a pallet instead.

Only if its rating plate says so. German appliances are built for 230 V at 50 Hz. Devices with a universal 100–240 V power supply travel fine; anything with a heating element or a motor generally does not.

That is common, and it is not a problem. Each parcel is checked in and photographed, and they wait together until you tell us to ship — combining them into one shipment is what keeps the freight down.

Plan for it. A forwarded parcel travels as a remessa, which carries a flat 60% federal import tax on product plus freight plus insurance, plus state ICMS of 17–20%. The 0% band up to US$50 belongs to Remessa Conforme platforms certified with the Receita Federal, and a forwarder cannot use it.

Because of what comes before the tax: the European price without Brazilian retail margin, products that are not distributed in Brazil at all, and consolidation. Six separate orders forwarded as one shipment pay freight once. Whether that beats the Brazilian ticket depends on the product — run a quote and compare before you buy.

No. There is no value below which a forwarded parcel becomes exempt, so splitting only multiplies your freight and your handling. Consolidating does the opposite, and every membership includes free storage days so you can wait for the rest of your orders before anything ships.
