Europe is where the language editions, the regional exclusives and the deep backlist live — and for a hobby shop, comic store or specialist retailer, that catalogue is the whole reason to buy at origin instead of waiting for a local distributor. Chile changed the rules on 25 October 2025: every foreign online purchase now pays 19% VAT regardless of value, so the old US$41 mental model is obsolete and the planning question moves to duty and the EU agreement.
For a retailer in Latin America the Spanish edition printed in Spain or the Portuguese edition printed in Portugal is often the version customers want, and it reaches the local market late, in small quantities or not at all.
Regional exclusives, limited runs and backlist titles are decided by distribution agreements you do not control. Buying at origin turns a gap you have been waiting on into stock you can put on a shelf.
Since 25 October 2025 VAT applies to foreign online purchases whatever their value. Suppliers, blogs and even some forwarders still cost Chilean imports on the old exemption. Starting from the current rules avoids an unpleasant recalculation after the goods have shipped.

Start with language, because it is the one advantage no local distributor can undercut. Spanish-language editions printed in Spain and Portuguese editions printed in Portugal are frequently the versions your customers actually want, and they arrive in Latin American markets late, in small allocations or never. Publishers like Norma Editorial, Planeta Cómic and Devir, and the Franco-Belgian houses behind the bande dessinée catalogue, sit at the centre of that. Add Taschen for art and photography books, whose formats and editions are a European proposition first.
The second axis is the hobby trade. Games Workshop's Warhammer ranges, Asmodee's board game catalogue, LEGO's European assortment, Panini's collections, model kits from Italeri and Revell, EU pressings on vinyl and European print runs of trading cards all carry regional exclusives and edition differences that make a specialist shop's window look different from everyone else's. Third, the backlist: European stock persists on titles and references that are out of print or unavailable in your market, which is often where the margin is for a specialist retailer. Commercial terms are between you and each publisher or distributor — trade accounts, minimum orders and territorial agreements are theirs to set. What we do is receive from all of them into one address and send you one shipment.
Publisher and brand names are listed as European sourcing options, reviewed August 2026. Resendify is not a distributor and does not grant, verify or represent distribution or resale rights for any publisher or brand — those agreements are between you and the rights holder.
Chile's reference points moved recently, so start from the current ones. As of 25 October 2025, foreign online purchases pay 19% VAT regardless of value — the old US$41 exemption is no longer the planning baseline. On duty, the general rate is 6% applied to CIF value, with VAT then calculated on CIF plus duty. There is a mechanism that exempts purchases up to US$500 from duty, but it is framed around occasional purchases by individuals, which is precisely not what a company buying stock is doing; assume it does not cover you and confirm with your customs agent.
The part worth real attention is preferential origin. Chile and the European Union have a long-standing trade relationship that has been modernised, and goods of genuine EU origin can qualify for preferential duty treatment when the European supplier issues the origin declaration on the invoice. On a 6% general rate that is not the difference CETA makes in Canada, but on repeat volume it is free money and it costs nothing but a paragraph from your supplier. Commercial imports above the low-value ceiling are filed through a customs agent against your RUT, and VAT-registered companies normally credit import VAT.
| Component | Rate | Base |
|---|---|---|
| Customs duty (general) | ≈6% | CIF value |
| VAT | 19% | CIF plus duty |
| EU-origin preference | Reduced or 0% | Requires supplier origin declaration |

Compiled from Chilean customs and trade-press sources and reviewed August 2026 — several of these figures come from secondary sources, so treat them as a planning baseline rather than a ruling. Two operational realities shape this category. The first is weight: paper is dense, and a pallet of books or a case of hardbacks costs far more to move than its volume suggests. That pushes you towards larger, less frequent consignments and towards sea freight where your replenishment cycle can absorb the transit — which is a planning decision, not something we can fix with a better rate. The second is condition. Collectibles are sold on condition, so a corner crushed in transit is a markdown or a return. We repack for protection where the original packaging is not up to an international leg, and we will photograph condition on arrival if you ask, so that a claim starts from evidence rather than memory.
There is also one tax rule genuinely worth knowing, because it changes the arithmetic more than anything on this page: in Brazil, books, newspapers and periodicals — and the paper used to print them — enjoy constitutional tax immunity. That does not automatically make every shipment free of every charge, and it does not extend to games, miniatures or toys, but for a bookshop importing printed matter into Brazil it is a materially different calculation from importing collectible figures. Confirm the treatment of your specific goods with your despachante; it is the first thing we would check in your position.
General operational guidance, reviewed August 2026 — not tax or customs advice. The Brazilian immunity applies to printed matter as defined in law and does not cover every product a shop sells; confirm the treatment of your specific goods with your customs agent before you plan around it.
Being precise about the boundary is more useful than a list of promises. We operate receiving warehouses across ten countries — Spain, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, the Czech Republic, the United States, China and Hong Kong — so your suppliers deliver domestically, which is what most of them are set up to do. We check goods in, store them while an order builds across several suppliers, repack when the original packaging is not built for an international leg, consolidate into one shipment, and produce the export documentation: commercial invoice, packing list, real weights and dimensions, and the supplier origin documents that decide whether you pay a preferential duty rate or a full one.
What we are not is your customs broker in the destination country, a distributor, or a party to your trade terms. We do not clear goods on your behalf at destination, we do not hold stock we sell you, and we do not negotiate or guarantee terms with brands. We also do not quote transit times we cannot control, and we do not tell you your goods will clear without charges. The Business plan exists precisely because a recurring importer needs a quote-based setup rather than a consumer membership: tailored workflows for repeat imports, room for packaging and repacking, volume-oriented planning and commercial support on request.
Accurate invoices and customs data, so your parcel is presented as cleanly as it can be.

From fashion to car parts, from luxury to electronics — global shoppers use Resendify to buy from Europe without limits.
“Finally a service that actually works for buying from Spanish stores. I ordered from Zara España, MANGO and El Corte Inglés in the same week — everything arrived consolidated in one box. Shipping to LA was way cheaper than I expected.”
“I bought a MediaMarkt laptop that wasn't available in Canada at that price. The process was seamless — got my European address, placed the order, and Resendify handled everything from there. Will definitely use again.”
“Been sourcing European car parts for years. Resendify is the best forwarding service I've used for Europe-to-India shipments. The consolidation feature saved me hundreds on a single order.”
“Bought from a French boutique that doesn't ship to Australia. Got my Resendify address in minutes, placed the order, and it was on my doorstep in Sydney two weeks later. Exactly as advertised.”
“I source from 4–5 European suppliers every month. Resendify consolidates everything before it hits the US, which cuts my per-unit shipping cost significantly. The quote tool is accurate and the team is responsive.”
“Found a Zalando deal that was EU-only. Used Resendify, got the item shipped to Dubai without any issues. The customs documentation was all handled — that's the part I usually dread.”
No, and anyone promising that is overselling. Trade accounts, minimum orders and territorial agreements are set by each publisher or distributor and negotiated directly with you. What we provide is the European address those suppliers can deliver to, storage while an order builds across several of them, and one consolidated shipment to your country with the documentation your broker needs.
We repack when the original packaging is not built for an international leg — publisher cartons often are not — and we can add protective material for boxed sets, sleeved cards and miniatures. On request we photograph condition on arrival at our warehouse, which matters because it establishes where damage happened. We do not grade cards or authenticate collectibles; that is a specialist service and not something we would pretend to offer.
Not for VAT. Since 25 October 2025, foreign online purchases pay 19% VAT regardless of value. There is a duty exemption mechanism for purchases up to US$500, but it is framed around occasional purchases by individuals rather than company stock, so a business should plan on paying duty and VAT and confirm its specific position with a customs agent.
It can, when the goods genuinely originate in the EU and your supplier issues the origin declaration on the commercial invoice. On a general rate of around 6% the saving per shipment is modest, but on recurring volume it compounds and it costs nothing except asking the supplier for the right wording — which we do during intake, before the goods move.
Volume and rhythm change what you need. A consumer account is built around occasional parcels; a business buying every month needs storage that fits a build-up across suppliers, packing decisions made per shipment, documentation that a customs agent can file without chasing you, and a quote rather than a fixed membership. That is what the Business plan is for, and it is priced per case because a pallet of tools every month and a monthly box of collectibles are not the same operation.
No. Clearance at destination is done by you or your customs broker, and that is deliberate: local clearance requires local licensing and local liability. What we do is the European side and the paperwork that makes clearance straightforward — a consolidated shipment, a commercial invoice that matches the goods, a packing list, real weights and dimensions and the supplier's origin documents.
Talk to us about the specific supplier before you plan around it. Some situations are simply a delivery address problem, which your European address solves outright. Others involve trade accounts or territorial agreements that are between you and the brand, and no forwarder can resolve those — we would rather tell you which one you are facing than take the order and find out later.

The more concrete this is, the more useful our reply. We receive in ten countries — Spain, Italy, France, Germany, the UK, Türkiye, the Czech Republic, the United States, China and Hong Kong — and forward anywhere, so tell us where you actually buy and where it actually has to land, even if this page is about a different lane.
