What to buy from Decathlon France

Decathlon France (decathlon.fr) is the brand's deepest market by far: 70+ sports covered almost entirely by Decathlon's own 'passion' brands, with far more models, sizes and colourways than the curated decathlon.ca assortment. Although Decathlon does run a Canadian site and a small store network (locations in QC, ON, NS, AB, BC), the French shelf carries the full Quechua, Forclaz, Kiprun, Kalenji, Domyos and Kipsta ranges plus EU-exclusive gear that never reaches North America. The standout example is the carbon-plate Kiprun KD900X LD racing shoe (~EUR 180), explicitly EU-only and not sold in the US or Canada. Buy direct in euros at source, send it to your free Resendify EU address in France, and we forward it across the Atlantic.

  • Quechua MH500 30L mountain hiking backpack โ€” EUR 47.99
  • Quechua MH500 men's hiking trousers โ€” ~EUR 20
  • Kiprun KD900X LD carbon-plate racing shoe โ€” ~EUR 180 (EU-exclusive, not sold in North America)
  • Quechua 2 Seconds Easy Fresh & Black pop-up tent, 2-person โ€” ~EUR 85
  • Forclaz basics โ€” fleece jackets from ~EUR 15, down jackets from ~EUR 35
  • Decathlon ski helmets (Wedze) โ€” roughly EUR 12-70
  • Kipsta football gear โ€” Kipsta is the official match-ball supplier for France's Ligue 1
Common Challenges

Why Shoppers in Canada Can't Access Decathlon France Directly

๐Ÿšซ

No Direct Shipping

Decathlon France restricts shipping to European addresses, leaving shoppers in Canada without direct access.

๐Ÿ’ธ

High International Fees

When international shipping is available, the combined costs of shipping and duties make purchases uneconomical.

๐ŸŒ

Geographic Restrictions

Decathlon France's website may block non-European payment methods and delivery addresses.

Sizing for Canada: EU to US conversion

Decathlon designs on the EU grid, and most product pages already show US/UK equivalents โ€” but two things matter for Canadian buyers. First, Canada uses US sizing, so you'll convert EU to US (use the per-product chart, as models vary). Second, Decathlon footwear often runs narrow. The brand's own advice is to measure your foot length in centimetres, add ~1 cm for comfort, and match that to the EU cm chart rather than trust a generic conversion. Apparel uses EU/international S-M-L with cm body measurements; women's and kids' garments follow EU numeric/cm scales, so always check the garment-specific size guide. Getting size right up front matters here because returns from Canada are awkward and costly (see Returns).

  • Canada uses US sizing โ€” convert EU to US on each product's own chart, not a universal table
  • Footwear often runs narrow: measure foot length in cm, add ~1 cm, match the EU cm chart
  • Apparel is EU/international S-M-L with cm body measurements; check each garment's guide
  • Women's and kids' items use EU numeric/cm scales โ€” don't assume the men's conversion

Conversions are approximate and model-dependent; always check the size chart on the specific product page before ordering. Source: Decathlon size guide โ€” measure in cm, footwear runs narrow.

Canada customs & import duty (EU โ†’ Canada), explained

Here is the honest version most forwarders won't tell you. For a parcel coming from the EU, Canada's de minimis is just CAD 20 โ€” both duty and tax. Above that, GST/HST/PST applies to the entire value, not only the part over CAD 20. Watch out for the most common mistake online: the widely-quoted CAD 150 (duty) and CAD 40 (tax) thresholds are NOT for you. Those only apply to courier goods shipped from the US or Mexico under CUSMA, and they do not cover EU parcels โ€” quoting them would badly understate what a Canadian actually pays. The consumption tax is 5% federal GST plus a provincial component, so combined roughly 5%-15% depending on the recipient's province (for example Alberta 5%, Ontario 13%, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador and PEI 15%). The carrier collects this on delivery (the courier CLVS program; Canada Post adds about CAD 9.95 in handling), though some merchants prepay it as DDP. One number to plan around: your EU store price already includes local EU VAT, and shipping through a forwarder to an EU address does not let a private shopper reclaim that VAT (a tourist refund needs a personal export with a customs stamp, which a forwarder can't do). So budget against the EU sticker price, not a tax-free one.

On duty, the good news is that EU-origin goods are 0% under CETA โ€” but only if the EU seller includes a valid CETA origin declaration on the invoice. Without that declaration, standard MFN rates apply (clothing roughly 16-18%, footwear roughly 16-20%, leather roughly 8-11%), while cosmetics and most electronics are largely 0% either way. Because whether you pay 0% or full MFN hinges on a single line on the seller's invoice, a generic "X% on clothes" figure tells you very little about your actual bill. Rather than guess, we estimate your full landed cost โ€” item value, plus shipping, plus estimated duty โ€” before you ship, so you can plan with a realistic estimate. Create your free EU forwarding address, fill your cart at the EU store, and run it through our calculator for the real number before you commit.

VAT, honestly: what forwarding does and doesn't do

French prices on decathlon.fr already include EU VAT. Shipping to a forwarder address inside the EU is a domestic EU delivery, so the VAT stays charged โ€” and as a private consumer you generally cannot reclaim it. A tourist VAT refund requires you to personally export the goods and get a customs stamp on departure, which forwarding does not provide. We will never promise you a VAT refund through forwarding. The real value is different and concrete: access to France's deepest catalogue and EU-only models (like the Kiprun KD900X LD) that have no Canadian price at all, often-lower euro pricing at source, and the ability to consolidate several orders into one Canada-bound parcel.

Shipping to an EU forwarder address means EU VAT is charged and is generally not reclaimable by a private consumer. We do not offer or promise VAT refunds.

Shipping Decathlon France to Canada

Decathlon's EU sites (FR/DE/ES/IT) don't ship to Canada and require a local EU receiving address โ€” that's exactly what Resendify provides. Register a free French address, order on decathlon.fr, and we forward it to Canada. Weight is highly category-dependent: a t-shirt is ~0.2 kg, a fleece ~0.4 kg, a pair of running shoes ~0.7-0.9 kg boxed, and a 30L backpack ~0.8-1 kg. A typical mixed apparel + footwear parcel lands around 1-2.5 kg.

  • Apparel/footwear orders are usually 0.3-1.5 kg; a typical mixed parcel is ~1-2.5 kg
  • Camping and fitness gear is the heavy/bulky end: a 2-Seconds pop-up tent ~3.5-5 kg, sleeping bags ~1-2 kg, dumbbells/benches/bikes 5-20 kg+
  • Bulky outdoor items are priced on volumetric (dimensional) weight, not just actual weight โ€” get them quoted
  • Consolidate several Decathlon orders into one shipment to cut per-kg cost
  • Use the on-page calculator for an instant EU-to-Canada estimate, then register your free EU address

Worked landed-cost example to Canada

Here's a dated, illustrative estimate (14 Jun 2026) for a typical Decathlon France order forwarded to Canada: a Quechua MH500 30L backpack (EUR 47.99) plus a Forclaz fleece (~EUR 15), roughly EUR 63 of goods (~CAD 92 at ~1 EUR = 1.45 CAD). The key Canadian rule for EU parcels: the de minimis is just CAD 20 for both duty and tax โ€” NOT the CAD 150 (duty) / CAD 40 (tax) thresholds, which apply only to courier goods from the US or Mexico under CUSMA. Above CAD 20, GST/HST applies to the entire value, not just the excess. Tax is 5% federal GST plus a provincial component depending on your province (roughly 5%-15% combined โ€” e.g. Alberta 5%, Ontario 13%, NB/NL/PEI 15%). On EU-origin apparel, CETA gives 0% duty only if the seller includes a valid CETA origin declaration on the invoice; without it, MFN duty applies (clothing ~16-18%). The example below uses Ontario (13% HST) and assumes a valid CETA declaration; Resendify forwarding is quoted separately on the calculator.

ItemAmount (CAD)
Goods value (~EUR 63 at ~1.45)~92.00
Duty (CETA 0% with valid origin declaration)0.00
GST/HST (Ontario 13% on full value)~11.96
Carrier handling/customs fee (illustrative)~9.95
Estimated tax + fees before forwarding~21.91
Plus Resendify forwarding (per calculator)quote

Illustrative example as of 14 Jun 2026; figures are estimates only. The CAD 20 de minimis, 5% GST + provincial tax, and CETA 0%-only-with-origin-declaration rules are based on CBSA guidance. Actual duty, tax (which varies by province) and carrier handling fees depend on your order, declared value, exchange rate and the seller's invoice. Without a CETA origin declaration, MFN duty (clothing ~16-18%, footwear ~16-20%, leather ~8-11%) may apply. Verify with CBSA before relying on these figures. Returns from Canada: size carefully first

Decathlon's return policy is generous in-region โ€” 365 days for members with the order saved to a member account, 30 days for non-members โ€” with items required new, unused, with tags and original packaging plus proof of purchase, refunded to the original payment method. But that window assumes a French/EU drop-off or a domestic return label. From Canada, you'd have to ship the item back to the EU at your own cost and time, and the decathlon.ca store network won't accept decathlon.fr online returns. In practice, treat forwarded Decathlon France purchases as effectively final: rely on the cm-based size charts and forwarder consolidation to get it right the first time.

  • In-region: 365 days for members (order tied to a member account), 30 days for non-members
  • Items must be new, unused, with tags and original packaging, plus proof of purchase; refund to original payment method
  • decathlon.ca stores won't accept decathlon.fr online returns
  • From Canada you'd ship back to the EU at your own cost and time โ€” treat forwarded orders as effectively final
  • Hygiene/personalised items aren't returnable; the 365-day benefit requires a Decathlon membership account
  • Best defence: use the per-product cm size charts before you order
