🏅 Decathlon France → 🇦🇺 Australia

Buy from Decathlon France.
Ship it to Australia.

Decathlon barely exists on the ground in Australia, but decathlon.fr carries the entire own-brand range at EUR prices — Quechua trekking gear, Tribord and Olaian water sports kit, Btwin bikes and Domyos fitness equipment. Get a French address in Lille and we forward it Down Under. Long-haul shipping is weight-driven, so we quote bulky gear before you confirm.

Why Decathlon France

What Australian shoppers get from Decathlon France

Decathlon has almost no retail presence in Australia, so for most of its catalogue there's no local store at all — and decathlon.fr is the most complete sports range in the world. For an outdoor-mad country, the line-up is a perfect fit: Quechua hiking and camping, Tribord sailing and Olaian surf gear, Forclaz trekking, Btwin and Van Rysel bikes, Kalenji running and Kipsta football. Even after long-haul forwarding, EUR pricing on .fr typically beats Australian sports-retail markups by a wide margin. The catch is distance plus bulk: tents, bikes and weight plates are heavy, and a France-to-Australia leg is long, so the cost is driven by weight. Check the calculator and consolidate to keep it sharp. Shipping time from Europe to Australia depends on the carrier and service level you choose. Resendify prepares all GST and border-force documentation so your parcel clears customs smoothly.

What to buy from Decathlon France (decathlon.fr) and ship to Australia

Decathlon France is the brand's home-territory store, and the real reason to shop it from Australia is the in-house 'passion brands' that make Decathlon a destination: Quechua and Forclaz (hiking, trekking and camping), Kiprun and Kalenji (running), Domyos (fitness, gym and yoga), Van Rysel (premium road cycling), plus Kipsta (team sports), Artengo (racket sports), Tribord/Olaian (water sports) and Wedze (snow). Decathlon does run a local site (decathlon.com.au), but it is a young operation with a deliberately limited, slowly-expanding catalogue — many French ranges, sizes, colourways and seasonal drops are simply not listed locally or sell out fast. The French decathlon.fr carries the full, deepest catalogue: the complete Quechua/Forclaz outdoor range, the entire Kiprun running lineup including carbon-plate KD900X racers, and the full Van Rysel cycling range that is hard or impossible to source in Australia.

The second reason is price. Decathlon's own brands are already aggressively priced, and the EUR sticker on decathlon.fr typically lands below the equivalent Australian shelf price once you convert — the Forclaz/Quechua Travel 500 backpack is about EUR 60 in Europe versus roughly AU$96 locally, for example. decathlon.fr checks out in euros and ships within France/EU, so you forward it from a French address to Australia. To start, register a free European forwarding address, then check out on decathlon.fr as if you lived in France.

  • Quechua MH500 men's waterproof hiking boots — a cult bestseller from ~EUR 44.99-64.99 depending on colour/model, far cheaper than name-brand boots.
  • Kiprun KD900X / KD900X LD carbon-plate racing shoes — a genuine carbon racer at ~EUR 180 (~AU$290), undercutting AU$400+ premium racers by a wide margin.
  • Forclaz/Quechua Travel 500 organiser backpack — ~EUR 60 in Europe vs ~AU$96 locally; light and easy to forward.
  • Quechua 2 Seconds / MH100 pop-up and easy-pitch tents — the iconic instant-pitch camping line; bulky, so factor volumetric weight.
  • Domyos fitness, gym and yoga kit, plus Kiprun/Kalenji running apparel and base layers — light, low-cost, ideal to consolidate.
  • Van Rysel road bikes (RCR, RCR Pro — the same WorldTour platform raced by Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) far below Specialized/Trek pricing, but full bikes are bulky/heavy and usually fall outside standard forwarding.
The problem

Decathlon France won't ship to Australia. Here's the fix.

🚫

decathlon.fr blocks Australian delivery

The French store ships to European addresses only. An Australian card and delivery address won't make it through checkout on decathlon.fr.

🏬

Almost no Decathlon stores in Australia

Unlike Europe, Australia has practically no Decathlon footprint, so own brands like Quechua, Tribord, Olaian and Btwin are hard or impossible to buy locally.

💸

Local sports gear is pricey

Comparable hiking, cycling and water-sports gear from Australian retailers usually costs well above the EUR price on decathlon.fr — the gap can absorb much of the freight.

📦

Distance plus bulk makes DIY shipping costly

France to Australia is a long haul, and tents, bikes and weights are heavy. Forwarding is priced by weight and dimensions, so a real quote beats guesswork every time.

Decathlon sizing: EU to AU/UK shoes and clothing (read this before you order)

decathlon.fr lists footwear and apparel in EU sizing, so the safest move is to convert from your known AU/UK size before you check out — a return to France is expensive and impractical (see Returns), so getting size right the first time matters. Australian shoppers can lean on a simple rule: for footwear, men's AU matches UK, while women's AU matches US (and runs about two sizes up from UK women's). Use the chart below as your starting point, then always cross-check Decathlon's own size guide on each product page, because their in-house brands (Kiprun, Quechua, Kalenji) don't all map identically.

Watch two things when forwarding. First, fit: Decathlon technical shoes (Kiprun racers, Quechua boots) can run snug or narrow, and EU/French apparel tends to run slightly slim, so if you're between sizes or have wider feet, size up. Second, the rare electronics in this category — bike computers, lights and chargers sold for the EU market are typically voltage-agnostic over USB (100-240V) but ship with a 2-pin EU (Type C/F) plug, so an Australian buyer just needs a cheap Type I (AU) plug adapter. Bike frame sizes are universal (cm or S/M/L).

  • Footwear rule for Australia: men's AU = UK; women's AU = US (and about UK women's + 2). Convert per pair using the chart, then confirm on the product-page size guide.
  • Quick reference (men's): EU 42 ≈ UK/AU 8, EU 44 ≈ UK/AU 9.5-10.
  • Quick reference (women's): EU 38 ≈ AU/US 7, EU 40 ≈ AU/US 9.
  • Technical shoes can run snug/narrow and EU apparel runs slightly slim — between sizes or wider feet, size up.
  • Apparel: Decathlon publishes garment-specific charts (hiking pants, running tops) rather than one universal guide — check the EU chart on each product page.
  • Rare electronics (bike computers, lights) are 100-240V over USB but ship with an EU 2-pin plug — bring a Type I (AU) adapter.

Customs & import duty: EU → Australia

Here is the version most forwarders won't tell you. Australia has a high duty de minimis: if the customs value of your parcel is AUD 1,000 or less, there is no customs duty and no import processing charge (alcohol and tobacco are the exceptions). Above AUD 1,000, customs duty (often around 5% MFN on apparel, footwear, leather and cosmetics; many electronics 0–5%) plus the import processing charge are collected at the border. The EU–Australia free trade agreement is not yet in force, so standard MFN rates still apply—there is no preferential discount on EU-origin goods.

The catch is GST. Australia charges 10% GST with no tax-free threshold, so even a low-value parcel is taxed. On goods valued at AUD 1,000 or less, that 10% is collected up front at checkout by the overseas seller, the platform, or the re-deliverer/forwarder (vendor-collected, DDP-style). Above AUD 1,000, GST is paid at the border together with any customs duty and the import processing charge. And to be straight with you: shipping to your EU forwarding address means EU VAT is charged at purchase and is generally not reclaimable by a private consumer—the tourist refund scheme requires you to personally export the goods with a customs stamp, which forwarding does not provide.

We estimate your full landed cost—item + shipping + estimated duty and GST—before you ship, so you can plan with a realistic estimate. Create your free EU forwarding address and run the calculator.

The VAT reality: what forwarding does and doesn't save you

Let's be straight, because this is where many forwarding pages overpromise. When you buy on decathlon.fr and ship to a French address, the price you pay already includes French VAT (the standard 20% on sports goods), and forwarding does NOT let a private shopper reclaim that VAT. The tourist tax-free refund scheme requires you to personally export the goods and get a customs stamp — a forwarder cannot do that for you, so we will never promise you a VAT refund.

So where's the real value? It's in the French shelf price, the range and the exchange rate, not a refund. Decathlon's own brands are aggressively priced in EUR, and once you convert, decathlon.fr often lands below the Australian shelf price — the Travel 500 backpack is about EUR 60 in Europe versus roughly AU$96 locally, and the carbon Kiprun KD900X at ~EUR 180 (~AU$290) undercuts AU$400+ racers. Add the full French catalogue, more sizes and the newest models, and the honest framing is: you save on price, range and the EUR rate, not on a reclaimed tax. Separately, Australian GST and any duty are handled on the Australian side — see the landed-cost section below for exactly how that works.

Forwarding to an address inside the EU means EU VAT is charged and is generally not reclaimable by a private consumer. We do not offer or promise VAT refunds. Separate Australian GST and any duty apply on the Australian side — see the landed-cost section.

Shipping Decathlon from France to Australia: weights, costs and consolidation

Most light Decathlon orders forward economically, but this is a sports-and-outdoor brand, so weight varies a lot by category. Apparel like a base layer, running top or Domyos fleece is roughly 0.2-0.6 kg; a boxed pair of running shoes 1-1.5 kg; hiking boots up to ~2 kg; a daypack 0.5-1.5 kg. Outdoor gear gets bulky fast: larger trekking packs 2-3 kg, and Quechua tents 2.5-6 kg or more. A typical apparel-plus-shoes parcel lands around 1-3 kg actual weight; camping orders trend heavier and bulkier.

Two things drive the final EU-to-Australia cost. First, carriers bill on the greater of actual weight and volumetric (dimensional) weight, so a light-but-bulky tent or jacket can be priced by its box size, not its grams — that matters more for Australia given the longer lane. Second, consolidation: send several Decathlon orders to your French Resendify address and we combine them into one parcel to Australia, so you pay a single shipment instead of several. Note that dense fitness gear (a 20 kg dumbbell kit weighs 20 kg+) and full bikes (12-20 kg+ boxed, plus lithium-battery rules on e-bikes) are usually uneconomical or outside standard forwarding. For an exact figure on your real cart, use the on-page quote calculator, and register a free European forwarding address to lock in your shipping address before you check out on decathlon.fr.

What it really costs landed in Australia: a worked example

Here's a dated, illustrative example so you can see the whole bill before you commit. The number that governs everything for Australia is the AUD 1,000 customs value threshold per consignment. At or below AUD 1,000, there is no customs duty and no import processing charge (the only exceptions are tobacco and alcohol) — but Australia has 10% GST with NO tax-free threshold, so GST still applies even on low-value goods. On those low-value consignments, that 10% GST is collected at checkout by the overseas seller, platform or the re-deliverer/forwarder, not at the border. Above AUD 1,000, GST plus any customs duty plus an import processing charge are paid at the border instead.

Example order (14 June 2026): a pair of Quechua MH500 hiking boots plus a Kiprun running top and a Forclaz Travel 500 backpack, about EUR 200 of goods (roughly AU$330), forwarded to Australia. Because the customs value is well under AUD 1,000, there is 0% customs duty and no import processing charge — only 10% GST applies, collected at the point of sale rather than at the border. If instead your order's customs value exceeded AUD 1,000, you'd pay GST plus duty plus the processing charge on arrival; for apparel, footwear and leather the duty is typically ~5% MFN, because the EU-Australia FTA is not yet in force, so standard MFN rates still apply. Illustrative example dated 14 June 2026; figures are estimates and not a quote. Australia's customs duty de minimis is AUD 1,000 of customs value per consignment (no duty and no import processing charge at or below it, except tobacco/alcohol). There is NO GST-free threshold: 10% GST applies even on low-value goods and is collected at checkout by the seller, platform or forwarder; above AUD 1,000, GST plus any duty plus the import processing charge are paid at the border. Returns from Australia: the one thing to get right before ordering

Returns are the main friction point with any EU-to-Australia forwarding, and Decathlon is no exception. The convenient return windows many associate with the brand — 365 days for members, 30 days for non-members, with free postage labels and AU Post/Parcelpoint or in-store drop-off — belong to the separate local entity, Decathlon Australia (decathlon.com.au), and that policy only covers items bought on the Australian site, NOT orders bought on decathlon.fr and forwarded. A French-site return would have to travel back to an EU returns address at your own cost and risk, with customs paperwork and no local drop-off, which makes returning a low-value item uneconomic.

The practical takeaway: treat a decathlon.fr order as effectively final-sale once forwarded. Use the EU-to-AU/UK chart above, check each product page's own size guide, and confirm width/fit on technical shoes before you buy, because a return effectively means paying outbound forwarding twice. Lean on detailed product specs and reviews before ordering. If you're unsure on fit, contact us before you order and we'll help you sanity-check the size.

  • The generous 365-day member / 30-day policy belongs to Decathlon Australia (decathlon.com.au) and covers AU-site orders only, NOT EU forwarded orders.
  • A decathlon.fr return must travel back to an EU returns address at your own cost and risk, with customs paperwork and no local drop-off.
  • No free AU drop-off for FR orders — a return effectively means paying outbound forwarding twice, so low-value returns rarely pay off.
  • Get size/spec right first: use the EU-to-AU/UK chart and the product-page size guide; size up if between sizes or for wider feet.
  • Lean on product specs and reviews before ordering, and contact us beforehand if you're unsure on fit.
FAQ

Questions about buying Decathlon France and shipping to Australia

Yes. Resendify gives you a real French warehouse address in Lille to use at decathlon.fr checkout. Once your order arrives, we forward it to any Australian address.

Consignments valued at AUD 1,000 or less generally clear without duty, though 10% GST can apply. Above AUD 1,000 you can expect duty plus 10% GST and an import processing charge. We supply the customs paperwork and flag estimated costs before you confirm. For Decathlon France Ship shipments specifically heading to Australia, our team pre-fills the commercial invoice to streamline clearance.

It comes down to weight and box size, and France-to-Australia is a long leg — so a Btwin bike or a big Quechua tent costs far more to forward than a pair of Kalenji shoes. Use our calculator with the product weight for an accurate figure before buying.

After your order reaches our French warehouse, forwarding time depends on the carrier and service you choose, with express options available.

Yes — on a long haul it makes a real difference. We hold parcels up to 60 days so you can combine, for instance, an Olaian wetsuit, a Quechua tent and Domyos dumbbells into one box and pay a single forwarding fee instead of several.

Frequently, yes. The saving is the EUR shelf price versus Australian retail markup, not tax — you still pay French VAT at checkout. On own-brand gear the EUR price plus forwarding often still undercuts the local option.
