On zara.com/es everything is labelled in EU sizes and the site defaults to the EU scale, so match the EU column below rather than the UK number on your usual tag.
The important warning: Zara runs small and tight, especially on fitted styles and dresses (often short hemlines and tight bodices), so a typical EU 36 / UK 8 shopper usually sizes up to EU 38 / UK 10 for anything fitted.
Fit is also inconsistent garment to garment — Zara is cut across many factories and patterns, so a Medium top in one style can fit like a Large in another.
Because a .es order can effectively only be returned in Spain (no UK store drop-off), getting the size right first time is the real money-saver: always check the per-item cm measurements on the product page and use Zara's online size-finder before you order to your free Spanish forwarding address.

Customs & import duty: EU to the United Kingdom
Here is the version most forwarders won't tell you. The UK has a single number that controls everything: GBP 135 per consignment, measured on the goods value alone (shipping and insurance don't count). At or below GBP 135, there is no customs duty, and the overseas seller charges 20% UK VAT at checkout.
Above GBP 135, the carrier collects import VAT (and any duty) when it delivers and adds a handling fee. Note the dates: the GBP 135 duty relief is still in force today — its abolition was announced in the Autumn Budget 2025 but is future-dated 'by March 2029 at the latest,' so it does not apply now.
There is no VAT-free threshold for commercial goods: above GBP 135 the 20% import VAT is charged on the full value, not just the part over GBP 135. Only genuine person-to-person gifts up to GBP 39 are VAT-free.
Duty itself is often 0% on EU-origin goods: under the UK-EU trade agreement (TCA), a valid statement of origin gets you 0% duty. Without it, standard MFN rates apply — roughly 12% on clothing, 8% on footwear, 2% on leather goods — while perfume, cosmetics, phones and laptops are 0% anyway.
One caveat we won't sugarcoat: shipping to an EU forwarding address counts as a domestic EU sale, so EU VAT is charged and a private buyer generally cannot reclaim it. The tourist refund requires you to personally export the goods with a customs stamp — a forwarder cannot do that for you.

The VAT reality — and where the real saving comes from
Let's be straight about tax, because some forwarders aren't. The euro price you see on zara.com/es already includes Spanish VAT (21%). Shipping to a forwarding address inside the EU does not let a private shopper reclaim that VAT — the tourist tax-free refund needs you to personally export the goods and get a customs stamp, which a forwarder cannot do on your behalf.
So we will never promise you a VAT refund; anyone who does is misleading you.
The real, honest value of buying Zara Spain is different and still strong: Spain is consistently Zara's cheapest market, the base euro price is structurally lower than the UK sterling tag (reported savings run from ~10–20% per item, and more at favourable exchange rates), and you reach Spain-only stock, regional capsules and earlier drops the UK store never gets. That price gap, not a refund, is the win.

Shipping weights and how to keep the cost down
Zara fashion is light, which works in your favour. A single dress, blouse or shirt is roughly 0.3–0.5 kg; jeans, a blazer or a thicker knit run about 0.6–0.8 kg each; a typical multi-item order (a dress + blazer + jeans) lands around 1.5–2 kg shipped. Most fashion parcels stay well under 3 kg and far below the 30 kg forwarding cap.

A worked example: landed cost of a Zara Spain order to the UK
Here's an illustrative landed-cost estimate for a typical Zara basket, dated 14 June 2026 so you can sanity-check it against today's UK rules. Say you buy a satin slip dress (~€29.95), a linen shirt (~€30) and a pair of balloon-fit jeans (~€35.95) on zara.com/es — roughly €96 of goods, with Spain's 21% VAT already in those tickets. Converted, that's about £82 of goods, comfortably under the £135 UK consignment threshold.
That matters: at or below £135 the overseas seller charges 20% UK VAT at checkout (so it's already inside the price you pay) and there is no customs duty, so the carrier has nothing extra to collect on delivery. The order packs to about 1.2 kg, so on top of the goods you add one international forwarding leg of roughly £12–£20.
If your basket instead comes to more than £135 (say you add a blazer and some shorts), the rules flip: the carrier collects 20% import VAT on arrival plus any duty and a handling fee. On duty, for EU-origin Zara clothing the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement gives 0% with a valid statement of origin; without one, MFN clothing duty is around 12% (footwear ~8%, leather ~2%).
We deliberately show duty as that origin-dependent distinction rather than one fixed rate, and we estimate your real landed cost before you ship. Returns: treat forwarded Zara orders as effectively final

But for a UK shopper buying via a Spanish forwarding address the practical reality is harder: an order placed on zara.com/es has to go back to the country of purchase (Spain), and there is no UK store or drop-off route for it.
