Australian GST and duty on parcels from Europe (2026)
Parcels valued at AUD 1,000 or less are generally free of customs duty and the import processing charge at the border, but 10% GST applies — for low-value goods it is usually collected at checkout when the supplier or platform is registered for Australian GST. Because Wallapop and Vinted sellers are private individuals who are not GST-registered, GST on a forwarded second-hand parcel is typically settled around import rather than at the seller's checkout. Shipments over AUD 1,000 need a formal import declaration: you pay any customs duty plus 10% GST plus an import processing charge.
Duty depends on the product's HS code; many goods are low or duty-free, while apparel and footwear can carry a 5% rate. As your seller issues no commercial invoice, we declare the value from your purchase price. Declare honestly — splitting one order into several parcels to stay under AUD 1,000 can be treated as avoidance.
