Post-Brexit, El Corte Inglés no longer ships to the UK and delivers within Spain only. Use a free Resendify Spain address to shop the full catalog at euro prices, forwarded to any UK address.
El Corte Inglés is Spain's flagship department store and the largest in Europe — Spanish and international fashion, beauty, electronics, home and the Club del Gourmet food hall under one roof. UK shoppers reach it at Spanish euro prices, including Spanish brands and gourmet products that left UK shelves after Brexit. Shipping time from Europe to the United Kingdom depends on the carrier and service level you choose. Resendify handles UK import declarations and VAT paperwork so you receive your order without delays.
El Corte Inglés is Spain's only nationwide department store, and elcorteingles.es is the home-market site with the deepest stock and the brands you simply will not find on the British high street. The real draw is its own labels, priced for the Spanish market: Emidio Tucci tailoring for men, Tintoretto and Woman womenswear, and Gloria Ortiz leather bags and shoes. Sitting alongside them are Spanish designer corners — Bimba y Lola, Adolfo Domínguez and El Ganso — plus a full Sephora-at-El-Corte-Inglés perfumery and luxury houses like Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Longchamp and Samsonite.
The other reason to use the .es site is what it locks behind an EU address. Even on the Spanish store, only fashion, accessories, watches, books, music, film and video games can ship outside the EU; electronics, tech, home furnishings, sport, suitcases, wine and baby products are EU-delivery-only. The thin international site (elcorteingles.eu) that reaches the UK carries fashion items alone. A Spanish forwarding address lets you buy the full euro-priced catalogue — including the rebajas (summer 2026 sales from 21 June online, up to 70% off) and the restricted categories — and have it forwarded on to the UK in one parcel.
Since Brexit cut off easy EU access, elcorteingles.es no longer ships to UK addresses. Resendify gives you a free Spain address so UK shoppers can keep ordering.
Spanish euro prices on El Corte Inglés are consistently lower than UK pricing on the same items — often 15–25% cheaper.
The Spanish site carries Iberian-exclusive fashion plus gourmet wine, olive oil and jamón that are hard to find in the UK. Note some foods carry import rules.
El Corte Inglés uses EU sizing throughout, so the safest move when you buy from .es is to convert from your known UK size before you order. For women's clothing the rough rule is EU = UK + 28 (UK 10 ≈ EU 38, UK 12 ≈ EU 40). Menswear is cut by chest in centimetres: a jacket EU 50 ≈ UK 40 chest, EU 54 ≈ UK 44. Fit varies by label and cut — Tintoretto, Emidio Tucci and the Spanish designer corners each run differently — so always check the specific product's size chart rather than trusting the generic conversion.
For footwear, sizes are EU: women EU 38 ≈ UK 5, EU 39 ≈ UK 6, EU 40 ≈ UK 6.5/7; men EU 42 ≈ UK 8, EU 43 ≈ UK 9, EU 44 ≈ UK 9.5/10. Because you can't try anything on at checkout and a UK-origin return is slow and costly, size carefully — or have the parcel land at your Spanish forwarding address, try it on, and only then re-export. Beauty and fragrance are metric (ml/g) with EU SPF labelling; note that fragrances and aerosols are dangerous goods on air freight, so flag those for the forwarder.
| UK women | EU women | US women | UK shoe | EU shoe |

| 14 | 42 | 10 | 7 | 40 |

Here is the version most forwarders won't tell you. The UK has a single number that controls everything: GBP 135 per consignment, measured on the goods value alone (shipping and insurance don't count). At or below GBP 135, there is no customs duty, and the overseas seller charges 20% UK VAT at checkout. Above GBP 135, the carrier collects import VAT (and any duty) when it delivers and adds a handling fee. Note the dates: the GBP 135 duty relief is still in force today — its abolition was announced in the Autumn Budget 2025 but is future-dated 'by March 2029 at the latest,' so it does not apply now. There is no VAT-free threshold for commercial goods: above GBP 135 the 20% import VAT is charged on the full value, not just the part over GBP 135. Only genuine person-to-person gifts up to GBP 39 are VAT-free.
Duty itself is often 0% on EU-origin goods: under the UK-EU trade agreement (TCA), a valid statement of origin gets you 0% duty. Without it, standard MFN rates apply — roughly 12% on clothing, 8% on footwear, 2% on leather goods — while perfume, cosmetics, phones and laptops are 0% anyway. One caveat we won't sugarcoat: shipping to an EU forwarding address counts as a domestic EU sale, so EU VAT is charged and a private buyer generally cannot reclaim it. The tourist refund requires you to personally export the goods with a customs stamp — a forwarder cannot do that for you. So before you ship, we estimate your full landed cost — item + shipping + estimated duty — so you can plan with a realistic estimate. Create your free EU forwarding address and run the calculator.

Let's be straight about VAT, because plenty of forwarding sites are not. When El Corte Inglés ships to a forwarding address inside the EU (here, Spain), it's a domestic Spanish sale: the price you pay already includes Spanish VAT, and as a private shopper you cannot reclaim it through forwarding. The tourist tax-free refund requires you to personally export the goods and get a customs stamp at the border — a forwarder can't do that for you. So nobody should promise you an EU VAT refund here, and we don't.
What about UK tax on the way in? There is no VAT-free threshold for commercial goods — only genuine person-to-person gifts up to GBP 39 are VAT-free, which doesn't apply to your own purchases. Import VAT is 20%. The GBP 135 figure people quote is the customs DUTY de minimis (goods value per consignment, excluding shipping): at or below GBP 135 no customs duty is charged; above it, duty may apply on top of VAT. Because your order ships first to Spain and is then re-exported by the forwarder, the carrier handles UK import VAT (and any duty) on the Spain-to-UK leg and adds a handling fee. The real value here isn't a tax dodge — it's euro pricing plus the rebajas (up to 70% off), Spanish own-brands and EU-only categories you can't buy in the UK at all. The worked example below shows where your money actually goes.
Forwarding to an EU address does not let a private consumer reclaim EU VAT, and we never promise a refund. UK import VAT is 20% with no VAT-free threshold for commercial goods (only person-to-person gifts up to GBP 39 are VAT-free). GBP 135 is the customs duty de minimis on goods value per consignment, still in force as of 14 June 2026. Verify current rules at HMRC, gov.uk. A typical El Corte Inglés order is light. A dress or a single pair of shoes boxes up at roughly 0.5–1.5 kg; a suit or coat runs 2–3 kg; bags and accessories around 0.5–1 kg; and a multi-pack of beauty or fragrance around 1–2 kg. Most single-item fashion parcels land in the 2–4 kg range once packaging is counted. If you're buying across categories — say a Tintoretto dress, a Gloria Ortiz bag and a few Sephora items — consolidating them into one box at your Spanish forwarding address is usually cheaper than three separate shipments, and forwarder consolidation typically caps at 30 kg per package.
Carriers price on whichever is greater: actual weight or volumetric (dimensional) weight, calculated from the box size. That mostly bites on bulky-but-light items — a padded coat, a boxed handbag, a suitcase from the EU-only range — so pack tight and consolidate. Rather than quote a flat figure, register a free Spanish forwarding address and run your real basket through the on-page calculator; it gives you the exact Spain-to-UK cost for your weight and dimensions before you commit.
| Typical order | Est. boxed weight |
|---|---|
| Dress or one pair of shoes | ~0.5–1.5 kg |
| Bag or accessories | ~0.5–1 kg |
| Suit or coat | ~2–3 kg |
| Beauty / fragrance multi-pack | ~1–2 kg |
| Consolidated multi-item order | ~5–10 kg (up to 30 kg) |
Weights are indicative. Your real Spain-to-UK shipping cost depends on actual and volumetric weight — use the on-page calculator for an exact quote. Source: Delivery periods — El Corte Inglés Help.
Here's a dated, illustrative example for a typical El Corte Inglés basket: a Tintoretto occasion dress at €85 plus a Gloria Ortiz leather bag at €55 (both already include Spanish VAT), boxed and forwarded to the UK at about 1.5 kg. We've used an indicative EUR-to-GBP rate of roughly 0.85 (€140 ≈ £119) and a sample forwarding charge — your real shipping cost comes from the on-page calculator.
The number that decides whether customs duty applies is GBP 135 of goods value per consignment, excluding shipping. This basket (~£119) is below that, so no customs duty is charged. UK import VAT at 20% still applies — there's no VAT-free threshold for commercial goods — and because the order is re-exported from Spain, the carrier collects that import VAT on the Spain-to-UK leg and adds a handling fee. If your basket goes above £135, duty may also apply: for EU-made clothing it's 0% under the UK–EU trade agreement when a valid statement of origin is provided, with MFN rates (clothing ~12%, footwear ~8%) only if it isn't. We estimate your full landed cost before you ship, so you can plan with a realistic estimate.
| Line item | Estimate (GBP) |
|---|---|
| Tintoretto dress €85 + Gloria Ortiz bag €55, incl. Spanish VAT (≈ £119) | ~119 |
| Forwarding + Spain-to-UK shipping (~1.5 kg, sample) | ~20 |
| UK customs duty (consignment ≤ £135 goods value) | £0 |
| UK import VAT (20%, collected by carrier on import) | ~24 |
| Estimated landed cost | ~163 |
Illustrative estimate as of 14 June 2026, not a quote or customs guarantee. UK customs duty de minimis is GBP 135 of goods value per consignment (still in force; abolition is future-dated to no later than March 2029): at or below £135 no duty applies, above it duty may apply. Import VAT is 20% with no VAT-free threshold for commercial goods. EU-origin goods are 0% duty under the UK–EU TCA with a valid statement of origin, otherwise MFN rates apply (clothing ~12%, footwear ~8%). Rates and exchange rates change — verify current rules at HMRC, gov.uk, and use the on-page calculator for your basket. El Corte Inglés will refund within 14 calendar days of receiving the goods back, but cross-border returns from the UK are awkward and at your expense. You pay the return shipping, plus any customs fees and local taxes, and the process means contacting Spanish Customer Service and posting the item back to their returns centre near Madrid. Return shipping from the UK is slow and costly, so the smart play is to avoid returns altogether — size carefully against the EU charts, and where possible have the parcel land at your Spanish forwarding address so you can try things on before re-exporting to the UK.

No. After Brexit, El Corte Inglés delivers within Spain only and no longer ships to UK addresses. Resendify gives you a free Spain address so you can order and have your parcel forwarded to the UK.
Orders with a customs value up to £135 are charged 20% UK VAT. Above £135, VAT applies plus possible duty depending on the goods. Most El Corte Inglés clothing orders fall under £135.
