Decathlon's French store carries the full own-brand catalogue at EUR prices — Quechua camping, Van Rysel road bikes, Domyos home gym kit and Kalenji running shoes. Why Decathlon France

What UK sports shoppers get from Decathlon France

Since Decathlon scaled back its UK store network, getting the full range close to home has become harder — and decathlon.fr remains the deepest catalogue in Europe. Own brands like Quechua (hiking and camping), Domyos (fitness), Kalenji (running), Tribord and Olaian (water sports), Van Rysel and Btwin (cycling) and Kipsta (football) deliver gear-shop quality at supermarket prices. EUR pricing on .fr frequently undercuts what UK sports retailers charge for the same item, so even with forwarding the maths often works in your favour. Just remember much of this catalogue is bulky — tents, bikes, kettlebells and benches — so the smart move is to check the calculator and consolidate. Shipping time from Europe to the United Kingdom depends on the carrier and service level you choose. Resendify handles UK import declarations and VAT paperwork so you receive your order without delays.

What to buy from Decathlon France (decathlon.fr) and ship to the UK

Decathlon France is the brand's home-territory store, and the real reason to shop it from the UK is the in-house 'passion brands' that make Decathlon a destination: Quechua (hiking and camping), Kiprun and Kalenji (running), Domyos (fitness and yoga), Kipsta (football and team sports), B'Twin and Van Rysel (cycling), plus Forclaz, Simond, Tribord, Olaian, Artengo, Nabaiji and Wedze. The French catalogue is wider and earlier than decathlon.co.uk: more colourways, more sizes, limited editions (like special-edition 2 Seconds tents) and the newest model generations (KD900X.2, KD900X LD+) that the smaller UK assortment may stock later or not at all.

The second reason is price. Post-Brexit, Decathlon has publicly attributed higher UK prices to import duties and added admin, and UK shoppers can pay noticeably more on big-ticket gear like bikes. On apparel and footwear the French shelf price typically lands at or below UK retail even after forwarding, and you also capture the EUR/GBP exchange rate. decathlon.fr checks out in euros and ships within France, so you forward it from a French address to Britain. To start, register a free French forwarding address, then check out on decathlon.fr as if you lived in France.

  • Quechua MH500 men's waterproof hiking shoes — EUR 64.99 (some colourways from EUR 44); MH500 Mid boots EUR 74.99.
  • Quechua 2 Seconds pop-up tent, 2-person — EUR 64.99, plus limited-edition colourways the UK store may not carry.
  • Kiprun KD900X.2 men's carbon-plate running shoes — EUR 64.99 (promo); flagship KD900X LD+ carbon racer EUR 219.99.
  • Domyos fitness, yoga and gym kit, plus Kalenji running base layers and accessories — light, low-cost, easy to forward.
  • Kipsta football boots and team kit, Artengo racket sports, Nabaiji swimming, Forclaz and Simond trekking gear.
  • Van Rysel / B'Twin cycling apparel and accessories (note: full bikes are bulky/heavy and usually fall outside standard forwarding).
The problem

Decathlon France won't deliver to the UK. Here's the fix.

🚫

decathlon.fr blocks UK delivery

The French store ships to European addresses only. Since Brexit it no longer treats the UK as a domestic destination, so a UK card and address won't get you to checkout.

🛍️

The UK no longer has full Decathlon coverage

With fewer UK stores, the on-the-ground range is thinner. Many Quechua, Van Rysel and Tribord lines that are stocked in France simply aren't easy to buy in Britain.

💸

UK pricing carries a markup

Where items are available locally, sports retailers in the UK often price above the EUR figure on decathlon.fr — the gap can cover a chunk of your forwarding cost.

📦

Big gear is hard to ship yourself

Tents, bikes and weight sets are heavy and awkward. Forwarding cost is driven by weight and dimensions, so guessing is expensive — you need a real quote.

Decathlon sizing: EU to UK shoes and clothing (read this before you order)

decathlon.fr lists footwear and apparel in EU sizing, so the safest move is to convert from your known UK size before you check out — a return to France is expensive (see Returns), so getting size right the first time matters. Use the chart below as your starting point, but always cross-check Decathlon's own size guide on each product page, because their in-house brands (Kiprun, Quechua, Kalenji) don't all map identically. Men's tops often use S/M/L/XL, which line up with UK; women's apparel uses EU numeric labels (EU 38/40/42).

Watch two things when forwarding. First, footwear: Decathlon technical shoes (Kiprun racers, Quechua boots) can run snug or narrow, so if you're between sizes or have wider feet, size up. Second, electronics: Garmin watches, bike computers and lights sold for the EU market are voltage-agnostic over USB (100-240V), but ship with a 2-pin EU (Type C/E) plug — a UK buyer just needs a cheap Type G adapter. Bike frame sizes are universal (cm or S/M/L).

  • Footwear: EU sizes don't map 1:1 to UK — convert per pair using the chart, then confirm on the product-page size guide.
  • Quick reference (men's): EU 40 = UK 6.5, EU 42 = UK 8, EU 43 = UK 9, EU 44 = UK 9.5, EU 45 = UK 10.5.
  • Women's run ~half a size different: EU 38 = UK 5, EU 39 = UK 6; women's apparel EU 38 = UK 10, EU 40 = UK 12, EU 42 = UK 14.
  • Technical shoes can run snug/narrow — between sizes or wider feet, size up; always check the on-page Decathlon size guide.
  • Electronics (Garmin, lights, bike computers) are 100-240V over USB but ship with an EU 2-pin plug — bring a Type G adapter.

Customs & import duty: EU to the United Kingdom

Here is the version most forwarders won't tell you. The UK has a single number that controls everything: GBP 135 per consignment, measured on the goods value alone (shipping and insurance don't count). At or below GBP 135, there is no customs duty, and the overseas seller charges 20% UK VAT at checkout. Above GBP 135, the carrier collects import VAT (and any duty) when it delivers and adds a handling fee. Note the dates: the GBP 135 duty relief is still in force today — its abolition was announced in the Autumn Budget 2025 but is future-dated 'by March 2029 at the latest,' so it does not apply now. There is no VAT-free threshold for commercial goods: above GBP 135 the 20% import VAT is charged on the full value, not just the part over GBP 135. Only genuine person-to-person gifts up to GBP 39 are VAT-free.

Duty itself is often 0% on EU-origin goods: under the UK-EU trade agreement (TCA), a valid statement of origin gets you 0% duty. Without it, standard MFN rates apply — roughly 12% on clothing, 8% on footwear, 2% on leather goods — while perfume, cosmetics, phones and laptops are 0% anyway. One caveat we won't sugarcoat: shipping to an EU forwarding address counts as a domestic EU sale, so EU VAT is charged and a private buyer generally cannot reclaim it. The tourist refund requires you to personally export the goods with a customs stamp — a forwarder cannot do that for you. So before you ship, we estimate your full landed cost — item + shipping + estimated duty — so you can plan with a realistic estimate. Create your free EU forwarding address and run the calculator.

The VAT reality: what forwarding does and doesn't save you

Let's be straight, because this is where many forwarding pages overpromise. When you buy on decathlon.fr and ship to a French address, the price you pay already includes French VAT (the standard 20% on sports goods), and forwarding does NOT let a private shopper reclaim that VAT. The tourist tax-free refund scheme requires you to personally export the goods and get a customs stamp — a forwarder cannot do that for you, so we will never promise you a VAT refund.

So where's the real value? It's in the French shelf price and exchange rate, not a refund. Decathlon's post-Brexit UK markups are real — the company has publicly blamed import duties and admin — so on big-ticket gear like bikes the French price can undercut UK retail by tens to hundreds of pounds. On apparel and footwear, the EUR price plus forwarding typically lands at or below UK pricing, and you get the wider French catalogue, more sizes and the newest models. The honest framing: you save on price, range and the EUR/GBP rate, not on a reclaimed tax. Separately, note that any UK import VAT and duty are handled at the border — see the landed-cost section below for exactly how that works.

Forwarding to an address inside the EU means EU VAT is charged and is generally not reclaimable by a private consumer. We do not offer or promise VAT refunds. Separate UK import VAT and any duty apply on arrival in the UK — see the landed-cost section.

Shipping Decathlon from France to the UK: weights, costs and consolidation

Most Decathlon orders forward cheaply because they're light. A t-shirt or Domyos fleece is roughly 0.2-0.4 kg, a boxed pair of running shoes 0.8-1.2 kg, hiking boots 1.3-1.6 kg. Mid-size gear adds up: a 2 Seconds tent is ~2.5-3.5 kg, a sleeping bag 1-2 kg, a backpack 0.8-1.5 kg. A typical multi-item sports/apparel parcel lands around 1.5-4 kg; bulky outdoor kit (large tents, multiple shoes, sleeping gear) can reach 5-8 kg+.

Two things drive the final cost. First, carriers bill on the greater of actual weight and volumetric (dimensional) weight, so a light-but-bulky tent or jacket can be priced by its box size, not its grams. Second, consolidation: send several Decathlon orders to your French Resendify address, and we combine them into one parcel to the UK so you pay a single shipment instead of several. Note that full bikes (12-20 kg+ boxed) and e-bikes usually fall outside standard forwarding due to size and lithium-battery shipping rules. For an exact figure on your real cart, use the on-page quote calculator, and register a free French forwarding address to lock in your shipping address before you check out on decathlon.fr.

What it really costs landed in the UK: a worked example

Here's a dated, illustrative example so you can see the whole bill before you commit. The number that governs everything for the UK is GBP 135 of goods value per consignment (excluding shipping and insurance). At or below GBP 135, the overseas seller charges 20% UK VAT at checkout and there's no customs duty. Above GBP 135, the carrier collects 20% import VAT plus any duty on delivery and adds a handling fee. There is no VAT-free threshold for commercial goods — the only VAT-free allowance is person-to-person gifts up to GBP 39, which does not apply to a shop order. (HMRC announced abolishing the GBP 135 duty relief, but that change is future-dated to by March 2029 at the latest, so it is not in force today.)

Example order (14 June 2026): a pair of Quechua MH500 boots plus a 2 Seconds tent and a Kalenji top, about EUR 165 of goods (roughly GBP 140), forwarded to the UK. Because goods value is just above GBP 135, this crosses into carrier-collected territory: 20% import VAT applies on arrival, plus a carrier handling fee, plus the forwarding cost. On duty: Decathlon's own-brand goods made in the EU qualify for 0% duty under the UK-EU TCA when a valid statement of origin is provided; without it, MFN duty applies (clothing ~12%, footwear ~8%, leather ~2%). Items made outside the EU may carry MFN duty regardless. We estimate your full landed cost before we ship — use the on-page calculator for your exact cart and register a free French address to get started.

Illustrative example dated 14 June 2026; figures are estimates and not a quote. UK duty de minimis is GBP 135 of goods value per consignment and remains in force (announced abolition is future-dated to by March 2029 at the latest); 20% import VAT applies above that line and there is no VAT-free threshold for commercial goods (only person-to-person gifts up to GBP 39 are VAT-free). EU-origin goods can be 0% duty under the UK-EU TCA with a valid statement of origin, otherwise MFN rates apply. EUR/GBP conversion varies. Returns from the UK: the one thing to get right before ordering

Returns are the main friction point with any EU-to-UK forwarding, and Decathlon is no exception. The policy itself is generous — non-members get 30 days and members up to 365 days to return unworn items in original packaging with tags — but the parcel has to go back to France/EU. That means you'd ship internationally at your own cost and handle the customs paperwork, which makes returning a low-value item uneconomic. decathlon.co.uk will not process returns for decathlon.fr orders, and there's no free UK drop-off.

The practical takeaway: treat a Decathlon FR order as size-and-spec-final. Use the EU-to-UK chart above, check the product page's own size guide, and confirm width/fit on technical shoes before you buy, because a return effectively means paying outbound forwarding twice. Faulty or warranty items are covered by EU consumer law, but again the item must go back to the EU seller. If you're unsure on fit, contact us before you order and we'll help you sanity-check the size.

  • Generous policy: 30 days for non-members, up to 365 days for members — unworn, original packaging, tags on.
  • But returns must go back to France/EU at your own cost, with customs paperwork; decathlon.co.uk won't process FR orders.
  • No free UK drop-off — a return effectively means paying outbound forwarding twice, so low-value returns rarely pay off.
  • Get size/spec right first: use the EU-to-UK chart and the product-page size guide; size up if between sizes.
  • Faulty/warranty items are covered by EU consumer law but still require return to the EU seller.
FAQ

Questions about buying Decathlon France and shipping to the UK

Yes. Resendify gives you a real French warehouse address in Lille to use at decathlon.fr checkout. Once your order arrives, we forward it to any UK address.

Parcels valued under £135 usually clear without duty, though import VAT can still apply. Above £135 you can expect 20% UK VAT plus possible duty — sportswear and footwear run around 12%. We provide the customs paperwork and flag estimated charges before you confirm. For Decathlon France Ship shipments specifically heading to the United Kingdom, our team pre-fills the commercial invoice to streamline clearance.

It depends entirely on weight and box size, which is why big Quechua tents and Van Rysel bikes cost more than a pair of Kalenji trainers. Use our calculator with the product weight for an accurate figure before you buy.

After your order reaches our French warehouse, forwarding time depends on the carrier and service you choose, with express options available.

Yes — and with weight-priced gear it pays off. We hold parcels up to 60 days so you can combine, say, a Domyos bench, dumbbells and a Quechua sleeping bag into one outbound box and pay a single forwarding fee.

Often, yes. The saving is the EUR shelf price versus UK retail markup, not tax — you still pay French VAT at checkout. On many own-brand items the EUR price plus forwarding still beats the UK alternative.
