There is no longer a duty-free allowance for goods shipped from China to the United States. The $800 "de minimis" exemption was removed for China-origin shipments in 2025, so virtually every parcel is now dutiable regardless of value. Chinese goods can carry several layers of charge: the product's base customs duty, Section 301 tariffs (commonly 7.5%–25%, higher on a few categories) and a temporary import surcharge that is under review around the middle of 2026.
The United States has no VAT, so there is no point-of-sale tax collected at the border — though your state's sales/use tax may apply after delivery. Because the exact cost depends on the product's HS code and the rules are changing fast, treat the figures below as orientation, not a quote.
